Wiper mechanism

The symptoms of a faulty wiper motor include the following:

  • Wipers operate at normal and high position;
  • Interval Mode does not work;
  • By turning off the wipers do not return to the zero posiyion;
  • Tip-down for a single wipe does not respond or the wipers start with normal wiping;
  • Rain sensor does not work;
  • Windscreen washers do not work.

Replacing the wiper motor is easy. A new one comes with the entire mechanism, including bolts and a new clip for the connector. The whole mechanism is to be replaced. The job can be done in approximately half an hour.

Open the hood. With the hood opened  you can reach everything.

Remove the black plastic cap that covers the nut of the wisseras. Loose the nut on the arm with a socket or pipe wrench (pipe wrench size 13).

Remove the wipers, the blades are pretty tight. Use a pulley puller.

Remove the plastic plugs of the tray (left and right in the cover). Remove the cover starting from the right. Bend the foam block and slightly lift the front of the cover plate to release the hook and the clips on the backside. Fold back the end. Do the same on the left and remove the cover.

Disconnect the connector (1) release the clip (locking pin upward) and disconnect the connector.

Make the bolts (2)  loose with a socket or pipe wrench (socket wrench or pipe 10) and remove the mechanism. A pipe wrench works the easiest.

Take advantage of the opportunity to clean the (3) as clean, you can do this now.

Install the new mechanism (the bolts are supplied) and tighten the bolts, connect the connector and insert the connector into the clip (a new engine comes in the package, cut away the old clip). Turn the ignition "on"  until the wipers are in their zero position and verify that the mechanism makes the right move. Refit the cover (beginning from the leftside).

Remount the wipers, the distance from the blades to the hood cover must be 45 mm for both arms. Tighten the nuts. Finally, place the plastic covers on top of the nuts.
