Before the replacement of a lock in the rear door, window and frame need to be removed.

Remove the door trim panel, If you are not familiar with this, use the method as described in Saabdocs Remove the water repellent foil. The foil is fixed to the door with a self-adhesive strip. Loosen the foil with the blade of a thin knife is. Do not pull the foil, you will damage it. |

Carefully remove the frame cover to the inside of the window. Start at the lower end of the leg just before the small window.
Move your tool in the direction of the arrow. |

Next remove the forward part of the frame cover. Start at the lower part. Pull the forward part to aft i.o.t. make it sure that the cover comes out of the upper left corner. |
Remove the outside weather strip (red ellipse). Lift it from its place, be carefull not to damage the paintwork.
Lower the window and remove the rubber from the front glass channel and the rubber of the door (red arrows, right picture). Remove the screws (green circles) and lift away the glass channel. |

Rais the window untill you can access the clamping bolts, Remove the bolts and lift the window out of the door. Undo the screws from the aft window channel and remove the rubber glass channel. Remove the window channel from the door. |
Undo the lock retaining screws.. |
Detach the clips from the wiring harness and the cable. |

The lock is now only fixed to the handle rod. Look into the door and detach the handle rod from the clip. Now you can remove the lock from the door. Detach the electrical connection and the cables from the lock. |
Refitting is a reversal of removing. I am just adding a few tips. | |
Make sure that the new lock is in the "open" position. |
Reconnect the cables (red) and the electrical connection (green) before mounting the lock. |
Do not forget to secure the handle rod to the yellow clip and make sure that the top of the aft window channel fits into the notch of the rubber. |
