The Saab AUX inpux has a weak signal. Inspired by the idea of the Saab dealer Schaap in Lemmer (who delivers an aux cable withe an amplifier), I found a DIY solution.
To improve the signal I used a DIY kit from Velleman. A univeral and ajustable pre-amplifier (kit number K2572).
At first build the amplifier according to the instructions.
It is advised to place the kit in a box. I used a standard box of

Disconnect the original plug (1) and take the aux out of the centre console under the armrest .
I purchased a connector in a car-shop.
Modify the connector withe a sharp knife.
When it is modified it fits into the original connector.
The connections are as follows. 3 is earth (black wire), 2 and 1 are left and right channel
Connect the aux connection from the armrest with the input from the amplifier. Connect the line-out from the amplifier with the aux cable running to the dashboard. (make sure left and right are correctly connected), you can use small pins for the connection. The 12V can be connected to the 12V connection compartment under the armrest. If a connector is not available in the armrest compartment then run a wire to the TEL 1 connector. If you use that connector then connect the plus wire to the switched +12V (pin 10) en earth to pin 1 (see drawing below). The amplifier will then switch of and on by using the car key.
As soon everything is connected ajust the volume of the right and left channel of the amplifier.
Remount the aux connector in the compartment under the armrest and tie up the cable. Fix the box with doublesided tape to the ventilation channel (position 2 in the drawing). Make sure that the handbrake mechanisme moves freely.
Replace the rear and side panels.
